This infection can be transmitted to anyone but most of the women are at the higher risk as compare to the men. Some common symptoms of genital herpes are itching, pain, small red bumps, tiny white blisters, soreness in the genital area and painful urination. 1. Cold Compress
Cold compress is one of the best remedies to reduce the itching and pain caused by the genital herpes. Cold compress actually helps in contracting the blood vessels found underneath the skin which in turn reduces the pain and inflammation. It also fastens up the healing process.
  • Place some ice cubes in the thin towel and wrap it properly then apply it to the affected area directly for approximately 10 minutes. Take a break after that for just few seconds and repeat every 3 to 4 hours to reduce the risk of pain and soreness.
  • Alternatively, chill a used tea bag in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes then apply it on the affected part. Hold on that place for 10 minutes. Do this remedy for several times a day.

2. Epsom Salt
An Epsom salt bath is useful to heal the sores or blisters due to the genital herpes outburst. Epsom salt helps to dry out the blisters in a quick manner.
  • Fill a bathtub with lukewarm water.
  • Now add 2 cups of Epsom salt.
  • Stir the water to make sure that the salt dissolves completely.
  • Soak your lower body in this water for 30 minutes so that your skin gets absorbed properly by the Epsom salt.
  • After when you have done the process, gently dry the genital area with a blow-dryer.
  • Use this remedy 2 times a week.

3. Coconut Oil
Another good remedy is to apply coconut oil as it contains medicinal and healing potentials. Coconut oil has antiviral and antioxidant properties. Not only has this but it had medium-chain triglycerides, lauric and capric acid that have antiviral actions towards the infectious viruses.
  • Apply extra-virgin coconut oil on the affected are before getting sleep. Allow to sit all the night then rinse the area with lukewarm water in the next morning. Repeat the process daily.
  • Another option is to make a salve by mixing up the equal amounts of extra-virgin coconut oil and raw honey. Rub it on the skin where you see the open sores 2 or 3 times a day.
  • Also, you can include 3 tbsp of extra-virgin coconut oil in your daily diet.

4. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera has soothing and antiviral properties and can be used in the treatments of all types of herpes. It helps to heal the lesions and relieve pain, inflammation and itching.
  • Take out the aloe vera gel from a fresh aloe leaf.
  • Apply directly on the affected area and let it dry on its own.
  • Wipe off with a washcloth soaked in warm water.
  • Do this remedy 3 or 4 times daily for several days.

You can also drink aloe vera juice on the daily basis to heal the problem fast. Blend 2 tbsp of fresh aloe vera gel along with 1 cup of orange or any other citrus fruit. Make sure that you just take 2 tbsp of aloe vera gel in a day.

5. Hydrogen Peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a popular home remedy to reduce the symptoms caused due to the genital herpes. Hydrogen peroxide contains extra oxygen molecule that chemically reacts with anaerobic (harmful) bacteria and viruses. This in turn speeds up the healing process.
  • Take a cotton ball and dab 3% of hydrogen peroxide on the affected part. Leave it for few minutes then wash with lukewarm water. repeat the remedy every few hours.
  • You can also take a crushed lysine tablet and mix with hydrogen peroxide then apply this solution on the affected area. Rinse it off after 10 minutes with lukewarm water. Do this remedy once daily.

6. Lysine
Lysine is an amino acid which can help shorten the length of an outbreak of genital herpes.
  • Take diet full of lysine but low in arginine. Eat beans, fish, green vegetables, greek yogurt, fruits, beef, etc.
  • Take supplements of 3,000 to 9,000 mg of lysine in divided doses for outbreak and 1,000 mg three times a day to prevent reappearance. Make sure to consult your doctor before taking supplement.

7. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has antiviral properties so it helps in destroying the virus responsible for genital herpes. Also, it contains anti-inflammatory, disinfectant and astringent properties that help to reduce the severity of the symptoms.
  • Dip a cotton ball in raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and dab slightly on the affected areas. Avoid washing it off. Do this 4 times a day.
  • Add 1 tbsp of raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a little raw honey to 1 cup of water. Drink twice daily to help fight against the infection.

8. Garlic
Garlic contains allicin, is a kind of chemical in which antiviral properties are found that helps in destroying the virus responsible for the genital herpes. Garlic is rich in vitamin C which stimulates the production of interferon, a substance that naturally fights with the virus.
  • Apply crushed raw garlic or garlic oil on the affected area.
  • Allow it to sit for 15 minutes, you will feel little burning sensation but soon it will stop.
  • Rinse it with lukewarm water.
  • Repeat the process 2 times daily.

9. Baking Soda
Baking soda is an old-age remedy to treat the genital herpes. This is a common ingredient that is easily available at your home and you can immediately treat the symptoms with that. In helps in drying out the sores from genital herpes thus promotes the faster healing time.
  • Dip a cotton ball in water then dip it in some baking soda.
  • Dab the cotton ball on your sores; make sure the sores are coated with baking soda.
  • Allow it to sit for 1 hour then rinse it off with lukewarm water.
  • Do this remedy twice daily.

10. Indian Lilac
Indian lilac is also known as neem, it works against viral infections like genital herpes. It also reduces the pain and itching while boosting up the immune system to help fight against the virus.
  • Wash and grind a handful of neem leaves into a paste. Apply this paste on the affected area and leave it for 30 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and do this for few times a day.
  • You can also boil a handful of neem leaves in a pan filled with water. Cool and strain the solution. Rinse the area with neem-infused water few times a day.

Additional Tips
  • Withdraw from sexual activity or use a latex condom during every sexual contact.
  • Avoid multiple sexual partners.
  • Avoid exerting yourself, like jogging.
  • Get adequate rest when suffering from genital herpes.
  • Manage your stress level.
  • Pregnant women suffer with genital herpes should immediately consult the doctor as to prevent from this infectious virus.
