Hickey sounds so interesting that it is commonly known as kiss mark or love bite or you can say it is a bruise. Hickies is appeared on the skin from sucking or kissing the skin very hardly and it cause broken capillaries thus pools the blood comes out. In this way, the skin turns into red or purple.

Hiding the hickey temporary will just need some makeup to cover it up. Otherwise, you should try and get help from the easy home remedies that are as follows:

1.  Cold Compress

Cold compress will work on the blot clots to be broken in parts to spread the blood all through the way. You can use any kind of cold compress to get relief from hickies.
  • In a paper towel, put some ice cubes then press your skin lightly with this compress for about 15 minutes certain times a day. Ice will reduce the pain and prevent your skin from swelling. Make sure you are not applying ice alone on the skin as it will cause ice burn.
  • Alternatively, you can try this remedy with a spoon by keeping it in a refrigerator for 10 minutes. Now wrap the spoon in a cloth and rub it lightly over the affected skin. Do this remedy for several times in a day until you see the hickey is healed completely.

2.  Peppermint

  • Take a required amount of peppermint oil on the affected skin area. At the start, there would be a tingling sensation slowly it will be calm. Remember, this remedy should only use for one or two times. More use will cause irritation.
  • You also have an option to use peppermint toothpaste on the affected part for just few minutes. As you feel the tingling has stopped, wipe it off with a warm washcloth. Use this remedy only once a day. You will see the good  results.

3.  Rubbing Alcohol

In case of passing just few hours after getting the hickey, alcohol is the best option to rub on the skin. Alcohol is a natural disinfectant, used for soothing and cooling the hickey fast.
  • With the help of a cotton piece already dipped in the alcohol, apply on the affected area.
  • Rub the skin gently for some minutes so will never feel any distress.
  • Alcohol has a negative reaction which is the dryness of the skin. In this case, you should always have a good moisturizing lotion to apply after rubbing the alcohol.
  • Do this remedy several times a day for two days.

4.  Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is a natural moisturizer for all skin types so do not worry before applying aloe vera. It will help in reducing the sensitivity of the affected skin. It also has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties that will burst the blood capillaries faster inside your skin.
  • Extract fresh aloe vera gel from the aloe vera leaf then massage this gel on the bruise or discoloration of the skin. Do this remedy three times a day.
  • In the absence of aloe vera plant at your home, you can use aloe vera-based cream or lotion then apply on the affected skin three times a day for two days.

5.  Banana Peels

Banana has soothing properties and it calms the skin then slowly minimizes the hickey fast.
  • Peel off the banana and cut according to the size of the hickey.
  • Rub the inside part of the banana peel on the bruise for 30 minutes.
  • Do this remedy three times a day to reduce the appearance of the hickies.

6.  Vitamin K

Vitamin K helps in coagulation (blood clots) and treats the bruises fast. It also helps to reabsorb pooled blood and speed up the healing process.
  • The lotion and creams rich in vitamin K is easily available on the drug stores so apply this on the hickey two or three times a day until the kiss mark is completely gone.
  • Eat vitamin K rich foods more and more like brown rice, soybean oil, fish oil, spinach, broccoli for two days.
  • Vitamin K supplements can also be taken to heal the process.

7.  Oranges

Oranges are enriched with vitamin C which is an essential nutrient for your body. Vitamin C works to repair the damaged skin cells. Vitamin C contains healing properties and it works on hickey very fast.
  • Just after you get hickey, immediately drink the orange juice in an extra amount. Do no use packaged juice and drink fresh juice for the desired results.
  • If you do not get oranges, you can take vitamin C tablet of 500 milligrams three times a day for about a week. This will be good enough to rebuild the collagen.

8.  Warm Compress

Heat is also valuable in case of hickey to heal it fast if this is two or three days old. Heat will work on the capillaries and dilate them for fresh and new blood thus help in circulation and cleaning up the messy skin.
  • Take a washcloth and dip it in a hot water, squeeze out the excess water and hold it on your skin firmly for five minutes, do this process three times a day.
  • Hair dryer can also be used to give heat on the affected skin area. While using hair drying, massage the hickey with your fingers to improve the blood circulation.
  • From the pharmacy, a reusable heat patch will also work. Use it directly.

9.  Finger Massage

When the hickey gets older, massage the affected area using your fingers, start from the center of the bruise to the outer edges. Follow the remedy two times a day for some minutes, apply a warm compress so it will increase circulation and heal the hickey quickly.


10.   Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is also a healing agent for bruises. Cocoa butter improves the growth of the skin tissues and is an excellent moisturizer.
  • Apply a warm compress on the hickey and when the area is warm, apply some cocoa butter.
  • Massage the area gently for few minutes. This will help in broken up the blood clot and blood circulation.
  • Do this numerous times all along the day.

You can use olive or almond oil if cocoa butter is not available.
