Black Forest Cake - Delicious Recipe

How to Make Black Forest Cake at Home


  • All-Purpose Flour 2 1/8 Cups
  • Vegetable Oil ½ Cup
  • White Sugar 2 Cups
  • Vanilla Extracts 1tbsp
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder ¾ Cup
  • Pitted Sour Cherries 2 (20 Ounce)
  • Baking Powder 1 ½ Cups
  • White Sugar 1 Cup
  • Baking Soda ¾ tsp
  • Cornstarch ¼ Cup
  • Salt ¾ tsp
  • Heavy whipping Cream 3 Cups
  • Eggs 3
  • Vanilla Extract 1tsp
  • Milk 1 Cup
  • Confectioner’s Sugar 1/3 Cup

Method of Preparations - Black Forest Cake

  • Preheat the oven at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Take two 9 inches round cake pans and grease it. Cover the bottom with the wax paper.
  • Take a large bowl and mix flour, 2 cups sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Now add eggs, milk, oil and 1 tsp vanilla. Blend them all together with the help of hand blander. Pour this better in prepared pans.
  • Now place them in an oven and bake for 35 minutes. After that, check the cakes by inserting toothpick. If it comes out clean then it means your cakes are ready. Let the layers be cooled down. Loose the edges with the knife and cool it completely.
  • Groove cherries, reserving ½ cup juice. Mix reserved juice, cherries, 1 cup of sugar and cornstarch in a 2 quart saucepan. Cook it over low flame of heat till the mixture becomes thick. Stir it constantly. Now add 1tsp vanilla. Cool it before using.
  • Take a chilled medium bowl and add whipping cream and confectioner’s sugar.  Beat it with the help of electric beater until the mixture starts to form the stiff peaks.
  • Cut the cake with the serrated knife horizontally in half. Tear the one split layer in the form of crumbs. Keep it aside. Reserve the 1 ½ cups of frosting for the decoration of the cake and set it aside too. Using the pastry brush or hands, smoothly brush the loose crumbs off top side of each layer of the cake. Now place the one layer on the cake platter, spread the 1 cup of frosting, and decorate the top with the ¾ cup of cherries. Now place the second layer of the cake on the top. Repeat the frosting and cherry topping. Top with the third layer again and repeat the same. Pour the reserved frosting into the pastry bag with the help of spoon. Pipe it around top and bottom edges of cake.
